Chevy Equinox Trim Levels

Chevrolet offers the Equinox in four trim levels. The base model L comes nicely equipped with keyless open and start features, 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, and the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system with a 7-inch color touch-screen. All four trims come with a capable front-wheel-drive system, but the LS, LT, and Premier trims offer all-wheel-drive options. This intelligent system monitors all four wheels and automatically adjusts power to compensate for various low-traction situations. AWD works with the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, which enhances control, especially during emergency maneuvers. StabiliTrak senses when your Equinox has lost its intended path and adjusts brakes and engine torque to get your Equinox back on track.

Chevy installed its 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine in every Equinox trim level. Chevy paired this engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain delivers 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. When properly equipped, the Equinox has a 1,500-pound towing capacity.

The L, LS, and LT trims share some commonalities: halogen headlights, body-color door handles, mirror caps, manual liftgate, and heated outside mirrors. The Premier trim upgrades to LED headlights and taillights, fog lamps, chrome door handles and mirror caps, a hands-free power liftgate, and heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators.

Every Equinox comes with the Chevy Safety Assist suite of driver-assist systems. These systems use radar and cameras to monitor the road around your Equinox, alerting you to potential hazards. The suite includes forward collision alert which scans the road ahead, alerting you to possible obstacles. Should you fail to react in time, the system will engage automatic emergency braking to help mitigate or avoid an accident.

A front pedestrian braking system detects pedestrians in the road, alerting you to their presence. Also, it engages the automatic emergency braking system should you fail to notice. However, this system has limited nighttime and low-visibility performance. The lane keep assist with lane departure warning system uses cameras mounted high on the windshield to track your Equinox when traveling within marked lanes. This system provides gentle steering correction when it detects an unintentional drift, helping you stay centered in your lane. You won’t receive alerts when you activate your turn signal.

Additional systems such as adaptive cruise control can ease your Youngstown commute. Adaptive cruise control uses radar to keep your Equinox at a preset speed and distance to the vehicle ahead. The system automatically slows your Equinox as traffic slows, even to a complete stop. When the way ahead clears, the system returns you to your preset speed and distance.
