The Chevrolet Equinox is a compact SUV that has made quite a name for itself, being the second-best-selling Chevy, behind only the Silverado. The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox ushers in this SUV’s fourth generation with a complete redesign. Its exterior takes on a more athletic stance, with body lines reminiscent of the larger Chevrolet Traverse. The front fascia differs across the three trim levels, and 20-inch wheels are now available on the RS trim.
The interior also improved significantly. The Equinox’s larger size translates to more room inside. New tech features and an updated design give the cabin a more modern feel.
The 2025 Equinox impresses with new transmissions paired with its sole engine option and a longer list of safety features. The entry-level LS and top-of-the-line Premier trims in the 2024 model are no longer offered this year; they’ve been replaced by the new Equinox ACTIV trim.

The 2025 Equinox is boxier and sportier than its predecessor. It’s also wider, with a width of 74.9 inches compared to the 2024 model’s 72.6 inches. Its exterior features strong lines, squared wheel wells and fender flares, lower projector headlights, a more upright grille, and taillamps that extend further out. A shark-fin C-pillar, also found in other new Chevrolet models, contributes to its tougher stance. This feature gives the illusion of motion even when the SUV is standing still.
The Equinox comes with LED lights, a 17-inch spare wheel and tire, and heated power side mirrors. Standard in higher trims are an AutoSense Power Liftgate, Rainsense wipers, a heated wiper park area, and roof side rails. A dual-pane power sunroof, fog lamps, and roof rack cross rails are available.
The 2025 Equinox can seat five while providing a more comfortable ride than previous models. There’s more shoulder room in both the first and second rows, at 57.7 and 55.8 inches, respectively. Its dashboard has also been set further back, making the cabin roomier. The Equinox has a maximum cargo capacity of 63.5 cubic feet. In terms of materials, cloth upholstery is standard in the base LT model, while higher trims have an Evotex faux leather or suede microfiber seat trim.
Power windows, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel are standard in the Equinox. You may also find dual-zone automatic climate control, a power driver seat with lumbar control, active noise cancellation, and a cabin humidity sensor in upper trims. A ventilated driver seat, heated rear seats, and a retractable cargo shade are optional.
The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox is powered by a 1.5L turbo four-cylinder engine that delivers 175 horsepower. This pairs with a continuously variable transmission in models with the standard front-wheel-drive (FWD) system or an eight-speed automatic with the optional all-wheel drive (AWD). A MacPherson front and four-link rear suspension contribute to the SUV’s smooth ride.
The FWD Equinox’s fuel economy is estimated at 26 mpg in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 27 mpg combined. The AWD version has slightly lower ratings of 24/29/26 mpg city/highway/combined. The maximum tow rating for the AWD Equinox is 1,500 pounds.
All trims of the Equinox feature an 11-inch driver information center and an 11.3-inch diagonal display. These are larger than those in previous model years. The SUV’s Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system comes with Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, 5G vehicle connectivity, a SiriusXM trial subscription, and a six-speaker sound system. Most trims also come standard with OnStar services capability, remote start, keyless open and start, wireless charging, front and rear USB ports, and power outlets.
Chevy Safety Assist is standard in the Equinox. This suite consists of automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, forward collision alert, a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam. You can choose AWD for any 2025 Equinox model. There are also packages available depending on the trim level. The Midnight Edition gives the LT trim black accents and roof side rails, while the Convenience Package II upgrades it with a power liftgate, a power driver seat, and wireless charging.
The Convenience Package III gives the RS and ACTIV trims ventilated front seats, power front passenger seats, heated rear seats, and a driver memory seat.
