January 23rd, 2023 by

Chevy has several electric vehicle (EV) options hitting the showroom for the 2024 model year if you’re ready to go electric, including the Blazer EV and Equinox EV. Each midsize SUV offers a comfortable ride, agile handling, and high-end tech features. What are the differences between these two SUVs, and which one best suits your needs? Our Cochran Chevrolet sales team is here to help you explore the differences between the Chevy Blazer EV and the Chevy Equinox EV.

Trims Available

2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV Red

The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is sold in four trims: 1LT, 2LT, RS, and SS. The 1LT, 2LT feature 19-inch wheels, while the RS rolls down the road on 21-inch and the SS on 22-inch wheels. You also get a black-painted grille and lower fascia with sporty flow-through rocker molding on the RS for a sportier look.

You can get the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV in five trims: 1LT, 2LT, 2RS, 3LT, and 3RS. Much like the Blazer EV, the 1LT and 2LT get 19-inch wheels, while the higher trims opt for larger wheels. You get 20-inch wheels on the 2RS and 21-inch on the 3LT and 3RS. The 2RS and 3RS trims also feature the lower fascia with sporty flow-through rocker molding and black-painted grille panel, much like the Blazer.

Both Chevy all-electric SUVs are available in a variety of exterior colors, such as Summit White, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Sterling Gray Metallic, Black, Radiant Red Metallic, Red Hot, and Galaxy Gray Metallic. The Blazer EV also offers Riptide Blue Metallic, whereas the Equinox EV has a Riptide Blue Metallic Summit White option.

Power and Performance

The 2024 Blazer EV and 2024 Equinox EV offer different powertrains, and that’s where you’ll see the most significant difference between vehicles. Both feature GM’s Ultium Platform battery technology, but that’s where the powertrain similarities end. On the 2024 Blazer EV, the entry-level models will put out 300 horsepower, with the SS garnering 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque. The Blazer EV is also available with a front-, rear-, and all-wheel-drive system, making it the first vehicle ever offered in both front- and rear-wheel drive.

Chevy states that the Blazer EV will have a zero-to-60 time of four seconds and a 320-mile electric range, depending on trim level. The four-second rating is based on the SS’s Wide Open Watts performance mode. The 1LT is projected to get 247 miles, with 293 on the 2LT, 320 on the RS, and 290 on the SS.

The Equinox EV features two available power options. The first is a single motor delivering 210 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque on the front-wheel-drive models. The second is a dual-motor, all-wheel drive for 290 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque. Chevy estimates the electric range to be 300 miles on a full charge for nearly all Equinox EV trims, with just the 1LT estimated lower at 250 miles.

The 2024 Chevy Blazer EV and 2024 Chevy Equinox EV can be charged at home using either a Level 1 (110-volt) or Level 2 (240-volt) charging station or on the go at a public DC Fast Charge station. There over 40,000 public charging stations across the country and more are being added all the time, giving you many options for charging on any road trip.

You can use the myChevrolet app with Energy Assist to help you plan your trip, including where and when to stop for charging along the way. The app can provide you with real-time location and availability of public charging stations. You can also use it to control features such as locking, unlocking, and starting your vehicle and to check diagnostics, such as tire pressure and oil life.

Both feature an 11-inch driver information display for all the important information about your drive. The Blazer EV has a 17.7-inch touch screen, starting at the 1LT. The Equinox EV goes with an 11-inch touch screen on the lower trims, moving up to the 17.7-inch on the 3LT. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all trims.

Interior features vary by trim level on both electric Chevy SUVs. They can include heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Many drivers ask if the Blazer EV is bigger than the Equinox EV. The exact dimensions haven’t been released on both Chevy electric SUVs, but the Blazer EV is expected to be slightly wider and longer than the Equinox EV.
