Depending on your truck’s configuration, the Colorado offers a maximum payload of 1,550 pounds and an impressive towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds. When you order your Colorado from Cochran Chevrolet of Youngstown, Ohio, you can add even more distinctive styling to each trim level with one of these six striking special edition models.
Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison
For the ultimate off-road capability, Chevrolet has teamed up with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) to create the ZR2 Bison. In 2019, Overland Journal rated the Bison as the Overland Truck of the Year, beating off competition from Ford, Jeep, Nissan, and Toyota. The ZR2 Bison is available in five exterior colors: Summit White, Satin Steel Metallic, Sand Dune Metallic, Crush, or Black. Inside, you’ll find leather upholstery with AEV embroidered head restraints.
The ZR2 Bison’s outstanding exterior features include a Chevrolet lettered grille, fog lamps, front and rear steel bumpers with the AEV logo, large AEV-designed fender flares, unique dark graphite 17-inch wheels, rear recovery hooks, and the facility for a front-mounted winch. For when the going gets tough, it has full-length rock sliders and five hot-stamped boron steel skid plates to help protect the engine oil pan, fuel tank, transfer case and front and rear locking differentials.
The ZR2 Bison’s off-road running gear includes front and rear electronic locking differentials, cast-iron control arms for superb strength, DSSV Multimatic suspension dampers, and a factory-modified rear axle with a 3:42 ratio. For improved traction and clearance, the Bison’s track is 3.5 inches wider than the Z71 and the suspension is raised by 2 inches.
Chevy Colorado Custom
The WT is the workhorse of the Colorado lineup, combining the convenience of an office with the capabilities of a work truck. However, you can bring outstanding style to the worksite with the Colorado Custom Special Edition. The WT’s Standard features include daytime running lights, cab-mounted cargo lights, and a cornerstep rear bumper.
The Custom Edition adds unique styling cues such as the stylish 18-inch Dark Argent metallic-painted aluminum wheels. You also get a distinctive color-keyed center grille bar, along with a color-keyed rear bumper, door handles, and exterior power mirrors. The interior offers comfort and refinement with a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The infotainment system includes a 7-inch touch screen, smartphone integration, Bluetooth, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot.
Standard power comes from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque via an electronically controlled six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Four-wheel drive crew cab models and rear-wheel-drive models with a crew cab and long box come standard with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that’s optional for other models. It delivers 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque via an eight-speed automatic with tow/haul mode and hitch guidance. Four-wheel-drive models feature an electronic two-speed transfer case with rotary controls and a neutral position for dinghy towing.
Chevy Colorado Redline
If you want to stand out from the crowd, the Colorado LT trim is available with the Redline Special Edition package with its red and black accents. The LT features a remote-locking EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate, while the Redline Edition adds head-turning street-smart style with a choice of Summit White, Satin Steel Metallic, or Black exterior colors. It has 18-inch black painted aluminum wheels with red accents, red stripes on the exterior mirrors, black mirror caps and door handles, and red recovery hooks.
You’ll also find a black bow tie emblem and grille, black 3-inch round off-road assist steps, and a black spray-on bedliner. The interior features jet black upholstery and an 8-inch touch screen. The Redline Edition comes standard with the 3.6-liter V-6, or you can opt for a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel that generates 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Chevy Colorado Z71 Midnight
With the Colorado Z71, you get a more off-road capable truck and, when you add the Z71 MIdnight Special Edition package, you can conquer the roads and trails day or night. It offers unique Z71 badging, black exterior color, a black grille, gloss black-painted 17-inch wheels wrapped in aggressive-looking 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, and a black spray-on bedliner. Inside, you’ll find unique upholstery and premium all-weather floor liners.
The Z71 Midnight is powered by the 3.6-liter V-6, along with off-road features such as an automatic locking rear differential, off-road-tuned suspension, hill descent control, and a transfer case shield on four-wheel-drive models.
Chevy Colorado ZR2 Midnight & Dusk
When you need even more off-road capability, you should opt for the Colorado ZR2, and the ZR2 Dusk and Midnight Special Editions show your dark side whether you’re on the city streets or heading into the wilderness. You can opt for Midnight with its black exterior or Dusk with your choice of body color.
Standard ZR2 features include a Chevrolet lettered grille, a unique hood and fascia, front and rear wheel flares, heated power-adjustable mirrors, and a black spray-on bedliner with the ZR2 logo. Both Midnight and Dusk Editions add gloss black-painted 17-inch five-spoke wheels with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires and a roof-mounted off-road sport bar with LED lighting and the ZR2 logo.
The ZR2 comes standard with four-wheel drive and the V-6 engine, with the option of the turbo-diesel. For off-roading, it has driver selectable full locking front and rear differentials, off-road rocker protection, and suspension with the Multimatic DSSV Damping System.
