Waterpark near Youngstown, Ohio | 7 Northern Ohio Water Parks

Youngstown is located in northern Ohio, just across the border from Pennsylvania. It was founded by John Young in the late 1700s, and sits along the Mahoning River in the beautiful Appalachian foothills. While its closest metropolitan neighbors are Cleveland and Pittsburgh, it is also notable as the midway point between New York and Chicago. If you’ve decided to call this once industrial little city home, then you might be looking for some fun summer activities for your children. Clay’s Park Resort Adventure Water Park

Adventure Water Park is located just over an hour away from Youngstown, near Akron, Ohio. It is open for the summer from May 28th until September 6th, and has a 10-acre man-made swimming lake with a sandy bottom. You’ll find something for everyone, with 150-foot Wet Willie water slides for the older kids, along with zip lines, ring swings, a barrel roll, and a kid’s swimming area for the little ones. Kayaks and paddleboards are included in the admission. You’ll find a nearby picnic area and concessions. Life vests will be provided in certain areas and all boats.

Maca Aquatic Center

Maca Pool complex is located 40 miles directly West of Youngstown at a 65-acre park in Tallmadge, Ohio. At the Maca Pool complex, you’ll find a 250,000-gallon-water park. One thing that makes this park special is the heated pool that will be enjoyable whatever the weather is like. It offers six lanes in the lap pool, multiple slides such as an enclosed flume slide, speed slide, and a kiddie slide, a large barrel splash zone, and teardrop bucket dumps. Facilities include shower rooms, concession stands, and large shade umbrellas. The Maca Pool is open from May 29th to August 15th to Maca Pass holders.

Clearwater Park

Clearwater Park is located at Jellystone Park Camp near Akron. It offers a 550,000-gallon-outdoor swimming pool of chlorinated water, from zero-depth to 12 feet at the deep end, with lifeguards at hand. Other amenities include the Wibit inflatable obstacle course, a diving platform and board at the deep end of the pool, a 144-foot slide into a four-foot pool for older children, a 12-foot playground slide into a three-foot pool, a toddler-only slide into a 20-inch pool, an umbrella under a waterfall, and a dunking bucket. You can purchase a day pass or one for the whole season.

Pioneer Waterland and Dry Fun Park

Pioneer Waterland and Dry Fun Park is only 50 minutes northeast of Youngstown in Chardon, Ohio. It’s not just a water park, it also has a kids’ fun zone and sports area at the park. The Waterland offers four water slides that are six stories high, including a speed slide and two spiral slides. You can also enjoy a spring-fed swimming area with an obstacle course and large floaters, an inner tube ride, sports like water volleyball and water basketball, many slides for younger kids, and paddleboats on a natural 6-acre lake. Nearby, you’ll find other activities like mini-golf and go-karts.

Waterworks Family Aquatic Center

Located in Water Works Park in the town of Cuyahoga Falls, just north of Akron, this local water park has much to offer. You can relax and float down the 560-foot-long Lazy River, take a dip in the pool, or use the six 25-yard-lap lanes. There is an enclosed tube slide, an open-body slide, two drop slides, and a little kid’s slide, so they don’t have to miss out on all the fun. Additional features enjoyed by children include waterfalls, water sprays, and geysers. They also have five poolside cabanas available to rent.

Splash City Water Park

Splash City Water Park is just over an hour north of Youngstown at Conneaut Lake Park on the Pennsylvania side of the border. Your kids can enjoy fun attractions like the Cliffhanger Falls Waterslide, Connie Otter’s Kiddie Cove, and the Lazy River, all included in the price of the Water Park day pass wristband. Enjoy a day of fun in this water park located in a beautiful wooded setting.

Other attractions at Conneaut Lake Park include a mini-golf course, the Historic Blue Streak Wooden Roller Coaster, and the boardwalk and beach at the glacial-made Conneaut Lake.

Waldameer and Water World

Waldameer is located in Erie, Pennsylvania, an hour-and-a-half from Youngstown, near the shores of Lake Erie. This large water park is worth a day trip, with over 100 rides, slides, and other attractions your whole family will enjoy. It has multiple heated pools, a giant 500,000-gallon-wave pool, and the Endless River where you can float along on an inner tube. Slides include the Awesome Twosome tube slide where you can go alone or with a friend, the Bermuda Triangle with three fast-body slides, the Rally Racer head-first mat slide, and many more for you to try.

Waldameer and Water World has a Kidz Zone with eight colorful slides for kids 54 inches and under, and over 100 water features, including tipping buckets, ground sprays, and dancing fountains to keep your younger children safe and happy all day. Next to it you’ll find the Battle of Lake Erie, a family water complex themed around Erie’s role in the War of 1812. It features the tall ship U.S. Brig Niagara at the top of a 40-foot structure that includes seven slides, a 400-gallon-tipping bucket, informative walkways, and interactive water jets and sprays.
